Boomkat Product Review:
Stephan Laubner returns from deep underground with a clutch of superb slow-house killers backed with an Intrusion dub of 'In My Dreams'. The emphasis is all on the slow-motion drag with 'Things From The Basement', keeping matters firmly below 118bpm, from the creaking shuffle of 'Vintage Hunter' to the melodic Chicago abstractions of 'Wasabi Flavoured' which strongly reminds of Jamal Moss' Hieroglyphic Being workouts. Each groove is given the typical STL treatment, espousing any production sheen to expose the dusty analog textures of proper vintage hardware in order to make you dance! The Intrusion mix is a real treat too, padding out bear-stepping 110bpm 4/4s with a nautical atmosphere to suck you deep under. We can't see these lasting long if you're a fan of the Workshop releases or Theo Parrish's moodier moments.
