Boomkat Product Review:
Tickley Feather (aka Annie Sachs) returns to Paw Tracks with a new collection of lo-fi electronic folk songs. The combination of rudimentary keyboard warblings and effects pedal processes brings to mind various other constituents of the Paw Tracks universe, but also the likes of CocoRosie (especially in the early days) and even Nite Jewel - particularly when it comes to the hazy, yet still very poppy vocals. There's a solid balance between far-out sonic deviancy and snappy, succinct ditties: for every weirdly waterlogged modulation exercise like 'Sure Relaxing' you get a triumphant Casio-backed song like 'Don't Call Marilyn' to bring you back down to earth... or thereabouts. Good stuff.
