The Zarabat Tehran Session
A truly epic three hour collection of new material from reliable Canadian dub techno explorer Scott Monteith . Sonically vast, the four-part album flips from sacred drone to blunted downbeat, mutant jazz and fudgy techno without so much as a pause for breath.
If you thought you had a fruitful 2020 lockdown, Scott Monteith is here to make you feel completely inadequate. The Berlin-based producer was asked for an online mix by Tehran-based Zarabat, so used the opportunity to assemble a hybrid live/DJ set of all the material he'd produced in quarantine. The result is four 45-minute chunks of evolving sound that express his relentless passion for music.
Over the course of three hours, he showcases collaborations with Mentrix, Appleblim, Paul St Hilaire, Maarten Vos, Martin Bakero, Om Unit, PC Knakt, Sudden Reverb, and the Mole. It's hard to tell exactly what's what, but that's the point - everything is pushed and pulled like modeling clay into a hissing fog of dub and ambience.
