Boomkat Product Review:
New Zealand noise rock icons The Dead C return with a blistering new album for Siltbreeze. It's hard to determine exactly what the title (and corresponding sleeve image) are trying to tell us about US politics, so we'll make no assumptions. What certainly can be deduced is that this record some of the band's best work in some time, with ventures into early electronics oscillations on 'Voodoo Spell' and 'Aime To Prochain Comme Toi Meme' balanced out by all out scuzz songcraft on 'Your Hand' and 'Bitcher'. It's the outrageous, Forbidden Planet-style echo effects on those electronic pieces that'll really hold your attention though, sounding very much in tune with the best output of Nate Young's Demons project. It's a predictably searing effort from the Antipodean veterans then, but it's handled with more skill, variety and dare I say it, musicality than so many fresher-faced noise scenesters could hope to pull off.
