Boomkat Product Review:
Omo is a joint effort between Berit Immig and David Muth who were both members of London group Karamasov, with Immig going on to join The Chap. Their music falls under the bracket of pop music, though only in the most esoteric, head-scratching sort of way. Comparisons to Laurie Anderson have been made, and you can certainly hear shades of her work in the combination of Immig's delivery and the electronic soundscapes lining her vocal. You might also find yourself reminded of the more kooky elements of the Chicks On Speed catalogue or Monika's Four Women No Cry series, and as with that sort of thing, your appreciation of this record will no doubt depend upon your tolerance levels for bouts of theatrical silliness set to a warped electronic beat.
