Boomkat Product Review:
Wavy electro, house and ambient boogie aces from a new name on Frankfurt's Live At Robert Johnson label. Chinaski's 2nd vinyl release after an EP for his southofmouth label, 'The Video Dead' induces a dream-dazed state with five cuts of gauzy, tape-saturated groove and dancefloor romance. 'Time To Kill' triggers an aerodynamic night-flight of monotone EBM bass and teasing horror-disco synths spiced up with kinky rimshots beside the dry iced glyde of 'Midnight Workout' on the A-side. Flip it over and the latticed arpeggios of 'Night School' arch over a brooding proto techno groove, giving way to the frayed slow-fast electro swoon of 'Hide Society' and the sub 100bpm momentum of 'The Video Dead' stacked up with glistening layers of mid-late '80s digital synth lushness.
