F kicks off the year for bass musics with a hefty thump of techno sculpted dubstep pressure for 7even records in shocking style. This plate has been giving us itchy feet for a time now, with our promo copies practically worn through due to the play-it-again! factor on both sides. 'The Untitled Dub' is a club wrecking masterpiece, marrying speaker puncturing dub stabs to a bulbous bass swoop and febrile percussive syncopations for a rhythm to get completely lost in. Imagine Throsten Profrock's Erosion series making GM babies with Martyn and you're almost there. We really can't get enough of 'Phantom' on the flipside either, taking a slightly more subdued approach the focus here is on the pitching and deeply swung percussion, incorporating intricate timbres of sub-continental rollidge with heavier kick/snare kinks and a swooning dub tech atmosphere, allowing your head to roll at quarter time while your limbs move to whichever rhythm you fancy picking up on. This one reminds us of old style Pole dragged up to speed for 2009. With Funky twocking a lot of attention from the dubstep scene (and rightly so) for it's return to percussive priorities, we urge you to check out the rhythms on this badboy to redress the balance! Wicked 'n Bad!
