Boomkat Product Review:
"Chilly Gonzales left Canada for Berlin in 1998. Daft Punk, Bjork remixes did him well, but it wasn't enough. So on to Paris, and collaborations with Feist on her Let It Die and The Reminder albums. Solo Piano then became Gonzales' own best selling album, introducing Gonzo to an audience who actually buy music sometimes. The piano pieces were used in documentaries, in films. But to fully satisfy his insatiable ambition, only one thing was left to do and he did it in 2009: Chilly Gonzales broke Guinness' World Record for longest solo concert with 27 hours of piano. 2010 saw the intenational release of his Locarno film festival award-winning first feature film IVORY TOWER starring Chilly and fellow-Canadians Tiga and Peaches with a soundtrack album produced by German electro-genius Boys Noize from which Apple lifted the single Never Stop to launch its IPAD2. In 2011 he produced and performed the first-ever all-orchestral rap album and live show: “The Unspeakable Chilly Gonzales”. This “professional confessional” body of work is set amidst Hollywood swells, tympani rolls, noble French horns, hypnotizing bells and influenced by Prokofiev, Morricone and Phillip Glass among others. This is a 90 minute live DVD– his first ever - including orchestrated versions of classics from Gonzales' repertoire."
