Boomkat Product Review:
Brian D’Souza a.k.a. Auntie Flo invites an international cast of players to stretch out on two 15 minute jams inspired by R Murray Schafer’s idea of The Soniferous Garden - “a place of acoustic delights” or a space to retreat from the oppressive overabundance of acoustic info that saturates the modern industrial world.
To be completely fair you could apply that idea to a lot of other music, too, but it forms a nice conceptual backdrop for the organic weave of Hakim Kiwanuka’s Adungu (a Ugandan 10 string harp) with Gio Kiyingi’s floating vocals and d’Souza’s more conventional electronics in the title track - also included as a Radio Edit - and better yet in the lilting rhythmelodic cadence of Rainfall On Red Earth, making great use of Mama N’Dieck Seck Thiam nimble talking drum technique.
