Boomkat Product Review:
Rolling off the back of his massive 'The Strange Dreams Of...' set, Paul White carves off an extended version of album track 'Punch Drummer' backed with three fresh and exclusive joints for all the beatnuts. Hearing this EP early in the morning is like taking a small shot of nitrous oxide with your cuppa, at once invigorating and head meltingly psyched, swamping his ghetto weight beats in acres of reverb and synthlines cut loose from their circuit moorings. 'Grimy Light' is pinned down by it's neck snapping rhythm, but simultaneously bursting with prog-rock slashes and fluttering synth arpeggiations. Another exclusive cut, 'Riding The Clouds' sounds like a prime Solesides/Quannum production fed a mouthful of mushies, but it's the final killer 'Synth March' that will leave his mark on your mind with a tricksy time signature and tripping FX techniques applied to a stomping backbeat to sound like a Theo Parrish cut on 45 mixed by The Gaslamp Killer. Strong stuff for fans of Bullion, Flylo or Floating Points!
