Boomkat Product Review
Whimsical but thoroughly convincing indie-pop from this London outfit, equally indebted to Byrdsian baroque jangle as the sounds of Postcard Records and all those C86/Messthetics bands. Though the arrangements are as skinny as the band's jeans (presumably) are, the production is punchy and full-bodied, allowing the canny, catchy songwriting to really take flight. This is a promising EP to be sure, and it's surely only a matter of time before The Proper Ornaments get signed by a Domino or a Rough Trade and become A Very Big Deal Indeed. Recommended for fans of Orange Juice, early Cure, Cleaners From Venus, Guided By Voices and whatnot.
