Boomkat Product Review:
Throwing Snow's Ross Tones links with his bruv, Alastair for a debut of deft, driving dancefloor moves on 'The Pennines' EP as Vellico. With the 'floor firmly in their sights they twyst 2-step garage, electro and dusted broken beats into shifty shapes strafed with shadowy and low-lit atmospheres as changeable as the titular region. 'Pennines' is a restless garage number initially nodding to Todd Edwards before switching to a moodier Detroit style at the halfway point, and '133G' ducks deeper into driving garage techno sweetened with blue soul vibes. The dusty drums and slow-rising chords of 'Becks' Brew' come off like Theo-wised adjunct to your Midland and George Fitzgerald releases, whilst the gully bass and distorted drones of 'The Peace Signal' flashes some teeth to let you know they don't only play nice.
