Boomkat Product Review:
Always welcome over here, Sensational’s inimitably kerned wordplay knits with suitably shifty rhythms and rug-pulling sound design by Planteaterz, also remixed by Low Jack, J. Albert, and Maara
The duo of Adam Feingold (Ex-Terrestrial) and Frances Latreille (Priori) debut their Planteaterz duo in five productions for the mercurial NYC rapper, switching between warped backpack boombap (‘Fancy Shit’), spaced-out illbient (‘Freak Like This’), Scorn-like subbass tumescence (‘The Flame’) and splayed echoes of Kaman Leung’s proto-dubstep (‘Untitled’) that supply smartly contoured vectors for Sensational’s slippery meter.
Low Jack is on hand to give a rugged late ‘90s NYC slant, next to a smoked out Miami-esque pressure drop from J. Albert, and a gripping, murky introduction to Montreal’s Maara-Louise Dunbar on her toe-tip flip of ‘You Don’t Know Me Like That’.
