Boomkat Product Review:
Our first introduction to the flickering firelit soul of Georgia's Horse came in the shape of a Various remix 12" some months ago. Their original version however was enough to prick up a lot of ears and now they deliver their debut album for Fire Records with the understated but involving 'The Mammoth Sessions'. Utilising the rich Texan tone of singer/songwriter Teresa Maldonado, their brittle and skeletal songs are fleshed out by multi-instrumentalist Tiziano Hernandez (bass/guitars), Brad Thomason (drums) and Melly Rose (cello), to creak and spook like the haunted recordings of the only band in a desert ghost town. If you like the Americana of The New Pornographers, the dusty folk of Smog or the torrid and threatening country death songs of PJ Harvey's 'To Bring You My Love', this will ease your head after a hard day at the ranch.
