Boomkat Product Review:
What with all the negative press currently being pitched at the Moss Side area of Manchester, it's always satisfying to see Barry Adamson proving there's much more to this district than hoods and guns - as his new release 'The Long Way Back Again' flies the North West flag. Rimy and cinematic, 'The Long Way Back Again' is an initially menacing lope of hip-hop rough beats, blossoming soundscapes and electronic pin-pricks that slowly gives way to an optimistic finale that parts the clouds and lets the sun shine. Dramatic without seeming forced, 'The Long Way Back Again' is what trip-hop aimed to be and routinely failed, whilst over on the back 'Look No Further' belies Adamson's role in founding Nick Cave's Bad Seeds - with a languid vocal swinging its hips over a decayed backdrop.
