Boomkat Product Review:
Is this definitely on The Social Registry, or has there been some sort of administrative cock up? Douglas Armour really doesn't sound like the other acts on the label, instead there's a bit of an electronic/dream-pop feel to all this, at times sounding as if Junior Boys had just signed to 4AD in 1989. There's even a bit of thumping disco here too: 'Trembling, On The Verge' is like Hercules & Love Affair with a Gossip bassline, and then, on yet another slant, there's the Shins-esque 'Something Sweet'. Despite all this genre hopping, Armour keeps on getting it right, sounding like a one-man encyclopedia of pop. Good, good stuff, and not what you'd expect from the label that plays home to the likes of Samara Lubelski and Growing.
