Boomkat Product Review:
Arriving six years after their seminal debut LP Crazy Rhythms, The Good Earth was once again produced by the band's own Glenn Mercer and Bill Minion, with assistance from R.E.M.'s Peter Buck, who'd been a fan since his days of working in a record shop. This time around The Feelies' sound isn't quite so dry or minimalist in execution, fleshed out in a fashion that recalls the match-up of acoustic and electric guitars of Buck's own band, as well as occasional twinges of the Velvet Underground's influence. "Formed in Haledon NJ in 1976, The Feelies released 4 albums- including their critically acclaimed and influential debut Crazy Rhythms, which was voted 49 in the top 100 albums of the 1980s by Rolling Stone magazine and chosen by Spin Magazine as 49 of the best alternative records of all time. The twin-guitar attack of songwriters and founders Glenn Mercer and Bill Million is the infectious sound of the group. Paired with driving drums and percussion, it has left an indelible mark on the landscape of rock and roll."
