The Galaxies Incredibly Sensual Transmission Field Of the Tower Recordings
Recorded at around the same time as the crucial 'Folk Scene', 'The Galaxies' Incredibly Sensual Transmision Field of.' utilised a similarly large-scale group of collaborators. Along with band-leader Matt Valentine we have P.G. Six, Helen Rush, Tim Barnes, Samara Lubelski, S. Freyer Esq., Andre Vida, and Dean Roberts all do what they do best and the sprawling band come up with their most career defining album. Before I had heard 'The Galaxies.' I was sure they couldn't top 'Folk Scene', but this album does everything and more to convince me otherwise - this has moments of pure insanity sitting perfectly next to freaked out blues, skewed folk, psychedelic space rock and off-world experimentation. All this and it still manages to sound like the guys are writing songs, somewhere in amongst that noisy abandon there's a structure which separates The Tower Recordings from so many of their contemporaries. You might think you've heard it all, you might think you've had enough freaky folk records to take up residence in a tree somewhere in Eastern Europe - but trust me you can't have a complete collection until you grab hold of this album. It's been out of press for ages and has just appeared again so jump on quickly before it dips out of availability yet again! Recommended.
