Boomkat Product Review:
Home Normal capture Brock Van Wey at his most tranquil and expansive with 'The First Day'. Comprising four tracks - three of which last over 20 minutes - we'd imagine this is the Bvdub release a lot of you have been waiting for. 'Never In The Prison Of Their Stars' greets us with a flush of pads and distant strings and rolls out into slow, square bass urged groove which soon dissolves into ethereal ethno ambience. Meanwhile, his centrepiece 'The First Day' supposes the Cocteau Twins taken to an Ibizan sunset where he spikes their water with mogadon and GHB to lushest effect. 'While They Dreamed We Were There' is a sweeter come-down groove, all misty eyed glossolalia and sublime Deep House-on-33 vibes, leaving the ambient 'My Skies Cry Your Name' to the kleenex crew. Lush.
