Boomkat Product Review:
Red Rack'em tunes have been a staple part of the nu-disco and deep house fraternity's diet for the last three years. The man behind the project, Danny Berman, is also responsible for the highly celebrated Hot Coins series of pirate soul and bootleg disco edits released between 2004-2006, counting Gilles Peterson, The Idjut Boys and Greg Wilson among his biggest fans. 'The Early Years' collects 13 of his rarest productions, many previously only available on super limited vinyl runs, plus a small handful of brand new exclusives. The vibe rolls from deep jazz edits done with a Dilla-esque sleight-of-hand on 'Whole New Way', to slow-stomping Theo P styles on 'How We Do', onto noodly electro-jazz fusions like 'Jazz Ending' and 'Chinese Electro' via aquatic drag jackers like 'Beginning End', all delivered with a handsome dose of soul. Fans of Theo Parrish, The Revenge, Metro Area, or Daniel Wang need to check this out!
