Boomkat Product Review:
Debut album time for Chicago-obsessed Italian House and Techno producer - including an ace Larry Heard remix. Adhering to authentic, strictly old-skool productions principles - real synthesizers, drum machines, mixer and tape recorder - Nick strives for that vintage sound with fine results on 'The Dream Of Amnesia'. If anything, the aesthetic is rougher, rawer than his numerous singles for the likes of Skylax, Mathematics and Quintessentials over the last few years. And that lack of compromise equates to coherence and a lovingly crafted album. Highlights have to be the sensual, synth-heavy 'Red Zone' and the dirt-crusted jakk of '1988' on the first plate, or the halcyon haze of 'Right Area' on the 2nd disc, but it's really left to the master, Larry Heard and his tucked-in, shuffling 12-minute overhaul of 'Distant Planet' that should really grab the attention of any old skool heads.
