Boomkat Product Review:
Heavyweight split session starring six of the world's finest, far-out musicians in two supergroups. Michael Morley, Bruce Russell and Robbie Yeats are New Zealand's force of nature, The Dead C, and drag us, slowly, by the face, thru the crushing sludge chops of 'Eusa Kills' to the almost-jazzy bop and twiddle of 'Tomorrow', across the bone-bending dis-torsion and reversed loops of This Much I Know' and the grinding, motorik noise churner, 'Heaven's Wheel' with all the manners and niceties of a snot-nosed gang of teenagers out to f**k up their local battle-of-the-bands. They've still got it, aye. By contrast, Richard Bishop, Ben Chasny and Chris Corsano's Rangda provide a more sensual sort of psychedelia on the flip, extending into free-flowing, ecstatic and deftly expressive improvisations of 'Gracilaria' and the sublime tension of languid dual guitars and roiling, gyroscopic percussive reach on 'Sancticallist'.
