Boomkat Product Review:
Spontaneous, triptomatic collaboration between two Detroit auteurs, Joel Peterson and Dave Shettler - who's previously appeared as half of Moon Pool & Dead Band along with Wolf Eyes' Nate Young.
Their 'Temporal Relics' make up the 3rd release for Midwich productions, steering the label's unfolding narrative down two long, creaky corridors of horror film-induced psychedelic minimalism approximating something like Spencer Clark jamming with Moon Wheel.
Revolving repetitive, fluctuating phrases of oriental riffs, ticking drum machine and strung-out drones moistened with vintage delays, on both sides they take all the time they need to hypnotise and seduce with subliminal effect; starting out with surreal, day-dreamy tone but, in both instances, phasing us somewhere more noirish, melancholy and between dimensions by the track's end.
