Boomkat Product Review:
Minimal Wave open up the early world of arch-experimentalist and pop dadaist Felix Kubin with the amazing 'Teenage Tapes'. Recorded when Kubin was between 11 and 15 years old, it presents an artist already steadfast in aesthetic and ability. After acquiring a Korg MS-20 in 1980 Felix would form a string of groups with friends, including one with Claudia Schneider-Esleben, sister of Kraftwerk's Florian, that would grab the attention of ZickZack Records' Alfred Hilsberg, yet ultimately it would be nearly twenty years before Kubin made an impact in the wider sonic conscience. He's since become a noted composer of electronic music, working with theatre, radio and film scores and art installations, crafting a body of work which evidently finds its genesis in this amazing collection of NDW-pop, avant-garde electro and robotic dance music.
