Boomkat Product Review:
MIGHTY MIGHTY TWELVE!!!!!! Very welcome freshness from Dave Huisman's acclaimed 2562 project for tectonic records. Anyone who bothers to read these pages will know we've got a seriously bad crush on pretty much anything Huisman turns his hand to, from the fractured Detroit variations under his A Made Up Sound moniker to the future rhythm and bass science of his 2562 style, he just kills us every time. Huismans has rightly been placed on a very high pedestal by a large proportion of the dubstepXtechno loving online community, and heralded as a production genius for his effortless melding of seemingly disparate genres into a unique dancefloor distillation some 3 years ahead of the rest of the pack. 'On 'dread techno' the man manages to tie together threads of dubstep debted bass scientifics, with scalpel cut techno hi hats and broken beat percussion to create a writhing dance form that induces a slinky movement somewhere between 2-step's sexy limb syncs and dub techno's lurching jack, but with a twist all of it's own. 'Enforcers' on the underside again creates a powerful torque, with a forceful steppers riddim crafted from rolling subs and a sick percussive twists that signify the stylistic shifts and twists of rhythms altered from original Detroit techno sound of over 20 years ago channeled through hardcore, 2-step and now forged into a comepletely fresh and utterly irresistable new form. If the forthcoming album is anywhere near as good as this stuff you'll have to tie me down before it gets messy. Genius.
