Boomkat Product Review:
Alarmingly, Swedish identical twins Miriam and Johanna Eriksson Berhan have only just turned 17. Despite being at such a modest age, the girls have been making quite an impression in Scandinavia, and this striking EP goes some way to explaining why: they don't half write some heartbreaking pop music. Far from the sort of juvenile bubblegum you might have expected, Miriam and Johanna fashion startlingly mature, melancholy ballads, using their incredible voices and a sparing application of a few acoustic instruments like piano and guitar with a bit of accordion thrown in for good measure. This release also benefits from production courtesy of Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn and John fame, who manages to keep the sparse, lonely production perfectly in line with the girls' beautiful songs - and they really are beautiful. God only knows how good these kids will be in a few years, but for the meantime this wonderful EP will do nicely. Highly recommended.
