Boomkat Product Review:
One of Photek’s finest, classic releases, T’Raenon ; reissued for the first time to belatedly mark the 20th anniversary of its release with reissue by Op-ART - a sublabel of Kirk DeGiorgio’s Applied Rhythmic Technology.
Yep it’s Photek in 1996, but, funny thing is that the D&B track isn’t even the highlight of this EP. That’s left to the more sought-after T’Raenon (Version), a beautifully poised, rolling techno mix that arguably predated swathes of similar grooves from the UK, paralleling 4 Hero’s forays into the same area, and laying the path for bumpy, offset depth charges by everyone from Peverelist and Hodge to Lee Gamble. Kanei hasn’t dated quite as well, but who cares when you’ve got a pristine mix of T’Raenon (Version)?
