Boomkat Product Review:
Finders Keepers magnate, Dom Thomas, offers the follow-up to the masterful 'Exploding Disco Inevitable' mix with a further blend of obscure proto house, denizen loops, far flung folk, cosmic rock and post punk. Again, we don't have the foggiest ferkin' clue what he's playing, but the vibes are exceptionally heavy as to be expected. From a whirlpool of cosmic Krautrock beginnings we're plunged into a morphing vortex of unknown delights, traveling from salacious post-punk into a charge of saxed-out skronk, probing sophisticated Gallic proto-House, onto fat Turkish breakbeats, more French obscurities, and lip-curling folk-rock riffage. You can never be sure exactly what you're listening to, unsure whether it's an original or one of Dom's cut 'n paste zombies, so that even if you did happen upon an original, it probably wouldn't even sound the same anyway! If you're a fan of the Gaslamp Killer or even the Funk and Soul cutups of Cut Chemist and co, this takes that style to the next cloud, without any of that wristy ADD business. Unpredictable, fascinating, and floor enveloping stuff.
