Boomkat Product Review:
D&B/dubstep renegade Simon Shreeve furthers his Future Materials alias with a one/two of drum-heavy slugs backed with Scorn reworks
’Symbol System’ features Shreeve battering a drum kit into slow, Bonham-like breakbeat submission, synched with guttural subs and spooked out with clammy atmosfear, with ‘The Human Image’ dragging the tempo down and upping the tonal tension for dankest ‘90s bedsit feels.
Who better than Mick Harris’ Scorn to reinforce the nastiness of ‘The Human Image’, pushing the levels to the biting point in a shivering, seething remake and mildewed Dub Version as mucky as that towel you use to mop up split cider and overcrammed ashtrays. Filf.
