Boomkat Product Review:
Livity Sound’s reverse label fires off a first shot of the year on this skeletal two tracker from local Bristol newcomer Via Maris.
After inaugurating Alex Digard’s Mechanical Reproductions label in fine fashion late last year, Bristol producer Via Maris is handpicked to kick off the sixth year of business for Livity Sound. Swarm / Tempora finds Via Maris joining his ‘Cottage of Dance’ house mates Batu and Bruce in debuting on the sister label dnuoS ytiviL, so we wonder if the other resident, Ploy, is gonna get a turn at the Livity controls?
Up top Swarm finds young VM in restrained form, a reduced take on the Livity style that still has some swing, whilst the trippy crunch of Tempora feeds heavily phased vocal samples through the shredder in a manner that recalls Hodge’s 2014 Livity classic Amor Fati.
