The first installment in the Thriller series was easily one of our favourite 12"s of 2008, one of those records you could play to anybody into the good stuff and watch their jaw drop instantly. The shadowy collective have again surpassed all expectations with this second platter, shifting their palette from choice electro soul edits to crushed rave hop and psyched slow house delivering absolute dancefloor genius. We'd love to tell you who produced 'Swarm' on the A-side but we're actually unsure ourselves, as we're only informed with a few tantalising clues and as you'll gather from listening to it, it really sounds like nobody obvious but trust us when we say the people behind these productions are about as sought-after as they come in 2009. Cleverly running on a deeply swung 120bpm pace, but mushed into a halftime shift, this cut is purely intensified rave goodness with a jagged hacksaw synthline sounding like the bastard offspring of Belgian New beat force fed Drexciya, Zomby and Rustie records. The energy on this track is compressed into a slow rolling juggernaut of immense heaviness that cannot fail to shock any dancefloor into next week. Beautifully contrasting with the controlled rage of the A-side is the sumptuous 'Hubble' on the flip, again operating on a devastatingly swung rhythmic function sounding equal parts Newworldaquarium, Kassem Mosse and Theo Parrish built by a set of hands and ears with a far wider scope than 99% of the rest of the crowd. Running at a lengthy 8 minutes this is one for the smokers, the cosmic cats and late night trippers to fill your boots with. Shockingly on-it wares - KILLER TWELVE!!!!!!!
