Boomkat Product Review:
A solo(ish) project from Alan Bishop of the Sun City Girls, this takes him into spoken word territory; intense and abstract monologues set against a mid-western bluesy/Americana/weirdcore soundtrack. It's another one for people who go to fancy dress parties attended by stuffed animals. Yes, it's mad as houses and I quite like it, Bishop's voice becomes quite enjoyable once you get used to his raspy drawl, and the instrumentation is top notch all round. This could very easily be the soundtrack to the David Lynch movie that never happened, small town life reframed as something slightly frightning. The monologues even take on the form of small, surreal stories of American life, of love and of other meaningless human activities. If you're interested in exploring the outermost parts of weird America then look no further, Uncle Jim is ready to provide you with all the answers you need.
