Boomkat Product Review:
Living in Baltimore and sounding as they do, high energy electronic duo Ear Pwr guarantee themselves comparisons to Dan Deacon. Vocalist Sarah Reynolds and the improbably named producer Devin Booze moved from North Carolina to Baltimore so as to resituate their music in its natural home over in Stringer Bell country, and it's clearly worked: here they are on the same Carpark label as Mr Deacon, and they're sure giving his playful, nerd-core electronics a run for its money. 'Super Animal Bros. III' (the song) is good enough to overcome the preposterousness of its subject matter, and likewise 'Future Eyes' transcends the Chicks On Speed comparisons by achieving actual great pop music despite the implicit tweeness of Sarah Reynolds' knowingly shoddy rapping combined with the gaudy synthpop production. The daftness keeps on coming with 'Sparkley Sweater' (an ode to Reynolds' "favourite shirt") and the snigger-inducing B-more breaks of 'Cats Is People, Too', but you'd have to be pretty dead inside not to find all this eminently entertaining.
