Boomkat Product Review:
There's a whole lot of heavy metal in this week (wahey) and it doesn't get much better than this. Under Lordi obviously, Circle are the leaders of the Finnish metal scene and Sunrise was originally issued in 2002 to international acclaim. Taking the gigantic sound of Hawkwind or Led Zeppelin the Fins inject a artsy psychedelic charm which they have made their trademark, one minute throwing out thrashing rock music and the next minute chanting over acoustic guitars. Indeed there's a fair few nods to the murky land of progressive rock across the album's one hour running length, most notably on the second track 'Satullinut' which I'm hoping is about elves and magic. Within minutes though we're back on the driving rock with 'Hautain Takaa' - a song I'm hoping will accompany the next film in the Italian 'Demons' series - leather jackets, big hair, motorcycles, gore. It's the 80s synths that do it... come to think of it maybe Circle aren't that far from Lordi after all??
