Boomkat Product Review:
After five years of singles for Vakant and Freude Am Tanzen, Mathias Kaden gets down to completing his debut album for Vakant. Kaden fleshes out his previously stripped and skeletal rhythmic frameworks with a deep house influenced palette of basslines, spoken word vocals and Afro-debted percussion. 'State Of Stasis' is probably the best example, featuring Gjaezon's vocals and lyrics set to kinky tucked house rhythms, while 'Panic Stricken' features hushed vox from Ian Simmonds over jazzy Flügelhorn and bodywarmed keys. 'Kawaba' strikes one off for the dubby house sound with sensuous Japanese vocals from Tomomi Ukumori and Sven Weisemann styled dub chords, and Ron Trent is checked on the final cut '1981' again featuring Gjaezon's intimate vox. For fans of Loco Dice, Carl Craig or the Innervisions crew.
