Boomkat Product Review:
What a revelation this is: Oklahoma band Debris made Static Disposal in 1975, setting the agenda for post-punk before punk itself had really happened. They've since been recognised as an influence on the likes of Sonic Youth, and you can hear some of that in Debris' more chaotic moments. Combining discordance with upbeat brass, primal electronic instruments and scrawling rock guitars the band map out a hyperactive template of noisy, yet musically ambitious material - at times sounding like Captain Beefheart or Frank Zappa without the ability to play properly. The bonus tracks reveal a rougher, more garage rock inspired sound, portraying a very different but no less essential band at work. Awesome.
