Pure percussive zoners from Düsseldorf’s Diskant camp, pitting The Durian Brothers trio against psychedelic Parisian shaman High Wolf in a dance for life.
Whilst both units have been operating amidst increasingly similar circles for the last few years, this is the 1st time they’ve appeared on record together, and both sides deliver some of their freakiest, charming jaunts.
High Wolf takes the top side for a spin between percolated, rolling and pitching jump-up patterns that splash and croak like a bucket of spiked frogs in Ara13, whereas Theorem86 winds up a whizzy sort of dancehall with martial snares offset by slowly undulating bass tug until its spinning free inside your swede, in dem bones.
The other side is manned by Stefan Schwander, Florian Meyer and Marc Matter, a.k.a. The Durian Brothers. Prepared turntables + effects plus sequencer + effects result a slow, grinding sorta dub techno wiggle marbled with skin-stretched drums in Mathematique, and Flüstertüte hits a dripping groove of deep, wide bass plongs and slithering vox recalling the undertow of that killer Toresch 12”, which, perhaps understandably, emerged from the Salon Des Amateurs, just like these guys.,
