Boomkat Product Review:
Digital version of a split cassette from The Last Foundation, pairing Avon's irrepressible Nick 'Ekoplekz' Edwards' with the mysterious Omne. Edwards is in tremendous form, offloading three cuts that haunt the edges of the dancehall: 'Duppy Dance' comes over like a dubwise take on the brilliant 'Ekoplatz' from his 2011 EP for Perc Trax, a gloaming, slo-mo skanker that sounds like something off Wolf Eyes' No Answer:Lower Floors re-routed through the UK hardcore continuum - really exceptional stuff, one of his very finest concoctions to date. 'Krystal Tipz' is rather serene by the usual 'Plekz standards, a cotton-wool-padded quasi-cosmic daydream reminiscent of Wanda Group or a less fucked up Thought Broadcast, but 'Mungo's Midge' reinstates the paranoia and agoraphobia, invoking TG, Etat Brut and the murkiest late 70s DIY/industrial operators. By contrast Omne's technoid noise might seem a little one-dimensional, but it soon settles into a faultlessly fierce, undead march that'll appeal to fans of JK Flesh, Cloaks and the like.
