MICHAEL MAYER / JOACHIM SPIETH
Speicher 8
The 8th in the series of killer Kompakt Extras brings Joachim Spieth to the floor with probably the darkest track yet in the series. “Under Pressure” kicks straight in with a punching bassline carrying solid kicks and sonic effects that mesh together into a classic and simple club groove. As the bass builds and the phasing intensifies the kicks dissapear and give way to melodic yet spooky keys over the bass, in what can only be described as a tranced-out vibe, though it‚s a million miles away from what the rest of the world class as trance. Kompakt’s emperor and party animal Michael Mayer graces the b-side with another of his Kylie fuelled house bumpers, an off key bass starts the flow with some 8 bit noises joining the 4/4 and airy keys hiding in the background. Michael has a knack of writing those tunes which make your head stand to attention, almost pop fuelled house but with some of the coolest machine-like noises imitating the melodies and giving that deeper edge to a huge club anthem, brilliant work and a firm addition to the already massive Kompakt Extra catalogue.
