Boomkat Product Review:
Exclusive new Illum Sphere cut backed with remxies of his 'Ghosts Of Now And Then' album tracks from Legowelt, JTC/Charles Manier, Zed Bias, and Lone. Funnily enough, the Giallo-esque slow techno thump of 'Spectre Vex' beats anything from the album hands down, opting for a warped sound design and hulking, stripped down groove dynamics to remind us of Actress' 'Maze'. Likewise, the syrupy 'Love Theme (Version 2)' revision and his surging acid techno Re-run of 'Sleeprunner' are among the best in his cabinet. Elsewhere his Hoya Hoya compadre Lone gives a lush, quickstepping remix of 'Embryonic', whilst Legowelt hears the same piece as a cosmic Eski-techno banger , Zed Bias gets all fruity with 'Sleeprunner', and his close pal Tadd Mullinx gives a jacking remix of 'The Road' as JTC, and a twitchier wave treatment unde the Charles Manier handle.
