Boomkat Product Review:
Guillermo Scott Herren, aka Prefuse 73, coins his Yellow Year label with this oneiric Teebs collaboration. It's the first in a proposed series of marriages due to see Prefuse73 working with Nosaj Thing, Lapalux, Synkro, Nathan Fake, and Dimlite, among others, and the latest in an illustrious career spanning a decade+ and as many albums for Warp. Working with Brainfeeder's Teebs has brought out the lushest, smudged side of Prefuse73, tempering his typically ornately jazzy embellishments to a more abstract and hazy aesthetic. Describing its seven parts is like trying to remember a dream; the gauzy layers of melody and swirling harmonics are constantly in flux, given a loose anchor by the tinkling percussion and slumped bass hits which always roll just off the beat with that classic, anticipation teasing bump. A strong look for all Brainfeeder, Leaving Records and Vlek fans.
