Boomkat Product Review:
In its continuing campaign to unearth the sounds of the '80s Finnish underground, the N&B Research Digest serve up this obscure gem from schoolboy noiseniks Swissair. These post-punk experimenters are responsible for some of the most grimy no-fi tape exercises you're ever likely to come across, although this particular composition has been assembled in retrospect by one-time band member Mika Taanila, now a filmmaker who did some heavy duty editing, splicing and dicing several vintage Swissair pieces into a form that suitably accompanied his film work, Hermafrodiitit. The unpolished sounds of Swissair make for a highly unusual example of extreme scuzz, assembled in a fashion that makes no attempt to dress up the overflow of cassette hiss of the original recordings, and nor should it, this is unapologetically unpalatable auditory nonsense of the highest order.
