Boomkat Product Review:
Hiroshi Watanabe (aka Tread) has become one of the mainstays of the evolving Kompakt sound, over the course of a couple of albums and a trio of smashing twelves. As Kompakt's centennial release celebrations draw very close indeed, its becoming clear they've something very special planned. Hiroshi's sound treads somewhere between the deeper end of trance and a lighter, melodically focussed take on the detroit legacy. Here he goes all out for the dancefloor, no more of the semi uplifting synths and held back melodies, on ‘Soul Of Heart’ he goes full pelt for the house feeling with ace melodic synths hitting the emotions where it counts, a solid drum pattern and accompanying synths makes the track extremely uplifting and very dancefloor friendly, but with the same technical knowhow used on his earlier and more subtle cuts. Flip over for an orchestral string fest, lots of emotion, huge string lines and a very neo-trance feel that’s underlying the cut, but also don’t forget Kompakt’s pop edge, that’s present in quantity, with these accessible numbers Kaito and Kompakt can only go onward and upward.
