Boomkat Product Review:
A second collection of non-album tracks from the Mount Eerie camp, following on from K Records' release of the first volume back in 2002 (back in the days when Phil Elverum was recording under the Microphones moniker). This collection takes off from where Vol. 1 left off, stretching all the way back to 2002's 'Where My Tarp?' and leading us up to date with outtakes from 2009's excellent Wind Poem album. Even if you've collected all the incredibly limited 7"s and compilations there'll still be plenty of unheard songs left over, and the tracklist reflects the dazzlingly broad range of Elverum's music, darting between the studio-bound multitracking experiments of 'Give Totally Up' (full of beautifully sequenced wooden percussion) to the abrasive garage rock dirge of 'You Turn Me On", to the heartwarming choral sounds of 'Voice In Headphones'. There's so much great material buried in here - it's a real treasure trove that no Mount Eerie fan will want to miss.
