Boomkat Product Review:
One of Detroit's most consistently intriguing exports comes super correct this week with his latest output for the Austrian Trust label. Nobody really sounds quite like Sherard Ingram, a character who has moved through various shapes and forms in the Detroit underground with a constant thread of hi-tek electro soul tying all his material together. This release marks a major advance in his sound, from the raw and pumping electro sketches of his Rephlex releases comes this much developed EP, starting with the spooky Burial-goes-to-Detroit vocals and heart rending synth flutters of 'Her', before the timeless arpeggiations and hard-synced electro of 'Gencon' deliver a heavyweight slug of emotional punishment. Matters take a turn for the darker on 'Shambling Masses' with a speedy 150bpm electro trip packed with Sci-fi samples and a truly devastating Piano refrain drawn from the lowest registers, before depositing us at the end with 'Sabotage Clique', summoning Ultradyne levels of pitch black atmospheric dystopia. For his fans, these are truly among the best tracks in his catalogue, for everyone else this is massively recommended!
