Boomkat Product Review:
Sneak bomb from Karaoke Kalk’s occasional dancefloor offshoot, Kalk pets. Here presaging the imminent new studio album from their Roman prodigy, the Kalk have cannily summonsed some top-flight remix support. LoSoul’s Playhouse credentials should speak for themselves, but in case you don’t know, they pretty well run tings in frankfurt town. Not only that – but the Playhouse sound continues to drive and refract current house movements. While Isolee may gather more column inches, Losoul’s productions have always had a soft spot for us, and this one is no different – touching disco of the italian variety, true house goes places here. Perhaps the highlight here is Kalk’s own secret weapon, Pascal Schäfer, whose first piece for Kalk pets sold out quick style. The mix of “Skiver” he drops here is quite simply essential stuff. Tonetraeger are Torsten Mauss and Volker Bertelmann. Just a week after their artist return on their own Strawberry Kills label, here they present an interpretation of “unbroken smile”. They re-point the vocals and convert the original tune with a deep flex, and round out a bespoke remix package of robust characteristics.
