Boomkat Product Review:
The launch of Ghostly's ambient series from artists' native to america's midwest starts here. Featuring new works from Twine, Kiln, Kosik (is that a Ted Maul/Chris Morrisism - I doubt it) and Mifune. The Twine track 'Gliding It On' features some amazing altered slide guitar tones layered onto a static based canvas - mind blowing ambience. Kiln's 'Isthmus' is a melancholic beauty - all lonesome guitar tones, tweaked bassclick rhythms and indie introspection. Kosik 'Signals' is a beautiful downtempo track with a gliding high pitched drone and an interesting bass note melodic line. Kosik's other offering is 'Glasting Malvo' where field recordings fuse with the sweet long running harmonies, kinda like Xela's work on 'For Frosty Mornings..' but with an even more pronounced squashed euphoria. Mifune's 'Kiln Remix Suite' finishes of this first volume with radio tuning crackle, building drones of warm noise, abrasive beat snaps, a buzzing hi-hat ring and a almost industrial bassbeat rumble - mad nice. 'Volume 2, due soon features the amazing Christopher Willets with a whole side of music alongside new works from Cepia and L'usine. Highly recommended.
