Boomkat Product Review:
Warp post-punk vets !!! are back after a long hiatus, and on ‘Slyd’ it sounds like they’ve lost none of their urgency during their three years off. While they still might be best known for the rousing and anthemic bliss of ‘Me And Giuliani Down By The School Yard’, this latest should tickle similar parts of the brain with its rolling percussion and typically sludgy, deadpan vocals. Losing the serrated axe wielding antics of their earlier material, we have bubbling electronics in their place and this pushes us somewhere in-between the club and the festival stage, somehow a place they’ve always been edging towards.
