Boomkat Product Review:
Excellent swing moves from Samoyed, landing on Jacques Greene's Vase label. 'Sloe Eyes' follows a steady curve of development from his Astro:Dynamics and Glum issues to a subtly emotive, dreamy and quicksilver hybrid of garage, techno and electronica. The title cut is a delight, all frictionless bottom-end morph and insistent hi-hat bristle sealed with mauve chords, all hinging on a class garage vocal hook that seals the deal. 'Guts' leans more to the 'tronica side, displaying affection for the sort of dusty melodic refinements found on Actress' 'R.I.P' album, but not forgetting the shake down junglist sub drops and ghetto-ready 808 claps. Strong stuff.
