Boomkat Product Review:
Chris Bowden is one seriously out there guy. First hitting the scene as saxophonist for Simon Richmond's Palmskin Productions (dig out 'Spock With A Beard') 12"s on Mo Wax and the f**ked up LP for Virgin 'Remilixir' that shocked a lot and sank without a trace which was a huge shame. After Chris' elpee 'Time Capsule' landed a ripple of attention focused on the man himself, but still it was a struggle to realise his visions. More critically successful was the link-up with 4-Hero, on the 'Hero' project. Now in 2002 Ninja Tune bravely step up to help Chris truly express himself. Four widescreen extended ensemble jazz pieces with wild time signatures and diversions. All stamped with the Bowden stamp of soul and spirit. This is as brave a jazz based album as you'll get to hear this year.
